The Literacy Initiatives International Foundation (LIIF) of San Francisco, through the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP), invites Filipino authors to join the Filbookfest on October 1 - 2, 2011 at the San Francisco Library, California USA.
The LIIF, through the Asia Foundation, will sponsor the airfare and accommodation of six (6) authors who will be selected to deliver talks and presentations during the two-day festival. The invitation is also open to those authors who can go on their own or can find other sponsors for their trip.
The following are the guidelines and procedures for authors who would like to be sponsored by LIIF:
- Should have a published book already
- Relatively young ( between 20-40 yrs old)
- Has a US Visa already or is confident of getting one
- Is capable of doing an interesting presentation
- Willing to present on the following topics:
- Children's books
- Travel and Culture
- Health and Wellness
- Fiction that are not too localized

- Short bio-data or resume
- List of books published
- 2x2 colored picture
Successful candidates are entitled to free transportation and accommodation in San Francisco, California, USA. Candidates who will be selected but not given US Visa, will not be entitled to the grant. The position will go to the next qualified candidate.
Deadline for submission of applications is March 31, 2011.
Authors who will not be funded by Asia Foundation must write a letter of intent so that LIIF can send a formal letter of invitation.
